The Hennessy Family, Norman's Smash Cake

Norman is excited for all things birthday and his personality grows bigger each day that passes. He practically learns something new every day! To celebrate his first year, mom and family wanted to do a smash cake. I thought it’d be fun to run with a barn theme and take them out to the Buffalo Corral Riding Stables with all the horses and stables. Monsoons always play a part in planning sessions this time of year but the weather behaved and we enjoyed our time in nature. Warren, his older brother, had a blast exploring as well, running around in all the soft green grass. Next we shot some family portraits. I love updating the family portraits during time like these. Kids change dramatically in just a few years they look like different people! Having a photograph of when you were little or I this case, age one, is so precious to have and look back on in later years. Who knows what Norman will grow up to be? We finished with the cake to smash and he had us laughing so hard at his dislike in the frosting/cake texture as he began to dry heave! You’ll grow to like cake, Norman, trust me!
